Poverty reduction

Months
ago, there was an issue regarding the hording thing happened in Manila. With
the hording of the trailers in Manila, a lot of companies in different parts of
our country are now losing its profit. The companies that exports materials are
being hold by the government that is why the production of the companies in the
Philippines is going down. Maybe, sooner or later they are closing down. But is
this hording a good strategy? Doesn’t it just destroy the relationship between
the investors in our country from other countries? And because of this, a lot
of Filipino people might lose their job/s if their companies working for are
part of these companies that are being affected by the hording. This will have
a great effect in the economic conditions of the Philippines. Our government
should think the different sides of their decisions for it affects many aspects
just like the Filipino people, investors, economy and more.
Poverty
reduction remains a huge policy challenge for the Philippines not only because
absolute poverty in the country is high and widespread, but the pace of its
reduction is also very slow compared with other Asian countries. Slow reduction
has to do with the rather low rate of economic growth, especially after
accounting for the country’s rapid population growth. For economic growth to be
inclusive, distribution of development opportunities need to receive much more
serious attention. It is this high inequality that has greatly muted the impact
of economic growth on poverty reduction.
